“I don’t fish. I don’t golf. I fight fires. And I eat cake. You take fires away and within three weeks, a month tops, I will be dead due to cake-related injuries.”
Just a little quote from probably my favorite character on Rescue Me, Lt Shea or Lou. His food addiction is one thing that makes him so endearing to me.
I'm thinking of cake because there is currently a birthday cake in my office that I am struggling to avoid. I have 2 hours to go at this point and I want to cave. I actually may end up caving.
You'll have to read to the bottom to find out since I'm going to be finishing and posting this either later tonight or tomorrow morning.
I don't even know what's going to happen as of right now.
Isn't it exciting?

Eats for Friday 9/3
I just realized that my last post was supposed to say Eats for Thursday 9/2. For a minute there I was thinking I was behind a couple days. Turns out I'm just not a good editor. Oops.
So, I was a big ball of stress on Friday. It's almost like I'm TOMing or something but I'm not. The biggest stress has been money stuff. MB and I have been super stressed trying to make ends meet and we still feel like we are getting nowhere. Things will definitely work out, but the muddling through is taking it's toll on us.
I was paying bills and clipping coupons with a clenched jaw, eff this and eff that flying out of my mouth and on the verge of tears. Not pretty. So, I took off with the pup and hit the trails. A little fresh air and exercise was just what I needed. My little brain was still trying to work those stress thoughts into my head as we hiked, but I just let them all go and enjoyed the hike. It's a much better way to cope than shoveling cupcakes into your mouth.
Although, I will admit that I got suckered into buying dry roasted peanuts at the grocery store. And by 'suckered', I mean that they were 2 for $5 and I wanted peanuts, so peanuts ended up in my cart.
Shameful, I know. But they are so delicious.
Moving on...here are my eats for Friday:

Weigh in 8/31
Weigh in day again.
I'm down 1 pound from last week. 7.8 total.
Yay!
I am celebrating this loss, but I am still disappointed in myself for not stepping it up more. The little losses are encouraging me but I still feel like I'm in a rut.
I think a lot of it has to do with stress and the weather. When I'm feeling stressed, I tend to get in a funk where I just want to be on the couch in my pajamas. Sometimes that means I binge, which I actually haven't done this time around. That's a small victory.
I've also been lazy because of the weather. I've been itching to hit the trails and hike with the pup but it's just been too hot. Yeah, I could easily work out at home, but...refer to the above mentioned funk.
It's a vicious cycle that I need to break out of. I always feel so much better when I exercise and I know that's what will really give me the results I want.
This should be easy. Just do it. Just move my fat ass.
So, why is is so hard to get into a routine and stick to it?
How do you do it? What's your secret?

Eats for Saturday 8/28
MB and I attended a wedding. With open bar. That presents a huge challenge for a beer lover like myself. MB was faced with similar challenges as a beer lover himself. He was my designated driver. Poor guy was bored out of his mind as he watched me throw some back.
Aside from the beer, we ate pretty well. The meal was pretty healthy. If I wasn't so insecure about shaking my fat ass in public, I would've earned some activity points dancing. However, I am super insecure and was not drunk enough to let go of that insecurity. So, no activity points were earned.
Stupid insecurity. Grrr.
Daily points target: 25
Weekly points remaining: 17
Breakfast/Lunch:
1 cup multi grain cheerios, 2 pts - 23
4 oz fat free skim milk, 1 pt - 22
*The wedding was at 2:30pm and I had to run errands beforehand so I didn't really get a chance to eat a full lunch.
Snack:
1 fiber one bar, 1 pt - 21
Dinner:
salad with strawberries, walnuts and vinagrette of some sort, 2 pts - 19
1 crab cake, 2 pts - 17
4 oz steak, trimmed of fat, 5 pts - 12
asparagus (that was very poorly cooked and mushy - ewww), 0 pts - 12
potatoes, 1 pt - 11
water, 0 pts - 11
Yuengling, 5 6 oz glasses, 9 pts - 2
1 slice cake, 7 pts - 0/12
Total points used: 30
Fruit/veggie servings: 1
Water servings: 1
Exercise: none
Weekly points remaining: 12
Thought for the day:
Never serve asparagus at a wedding or large event where multiple guests will be using the bathroom. It smells funny. (teeheehee)
